WRITE NIGHT

Gone days, pen to paper, words are now soft keys.
They never worried, I depend on electricity.
Fingers and thoughts cooperate, quills their ways.
Wick or torch lights, mine is neon or cell energy.

We wrote in the dark, imagination fell up,
Observing sundown, welcoming dawn,
Sneezing, coughing, blots and edits, half-sleep,
We both shared things far deeper to be said.

Fonts changed with mood, nouns or adjectives
Displaced as verbs conjoined with pronouns,
Looking at the surface as the stars see us,
Was there a much secret being present?

In that slow of insects, mammals also the reptiles,
We wrote as if obligated to life, words ran for miles,
So in sleep our sub-conscious prevails,
To compose what you will read in the morning.
